Hello Captains,

many months ago I already tried to find an answer and although I tried the search function still I don't know what to do: There's no APU sound outside the aircraft except when in "tower view". Any help on this issue?

Hi Michael!

The only answer to this issue (for me) was to try all (three?) available sound sets. At this moment I'm using the TSS one, and have no issues, but
Avsim has one - pwjt8d.zip,

SimFantastic has one - md8x_soundset.zip - h t t p ://www.fsdownload.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=ns_getit&cid=87&lid=4700&type=url#get

and then one from TSS (from SimMarket).

Hi Paul!

Thanks for your help.

Nice to know that at least some of the nerds are still around here. I'll try the one from SimFantastic tonight...

Hi Paul!

Yesterday I tried the soundset by SimFantastic but there was no difference. The issue's still there. No APU sound in "Spot View".

Interestingly the APU sound to be heard in "Tower View" is completely different from the SimFantastic APU sounds in the sound folder. Therefore I think that the Maddog APU sound is directly programed into the APU gauge which means that we can't do anythig about this issue.

And if you tell me that with the TSS sound set the APU can well be heard in "Spot View" I'm quite astonished. Can you really confirm that you hear the APU with your TSS sound set while in "Spot View"?

Sorry I'm late in getting back to you, Michael - I'll test later and replay - but probably tomorrow..

Good Morning Michael: I tried all three soundsets, and on no case could I hear the APU running outside the aircraft. The only sound I could hear was the same 'interior sounds - instruments and fans, plus the very faint sound of the APU - no discernible change or break.
However, quoting others more knowledgeable than I who have posted here - neither the APU nor the engines are audible from the flight deck, so I have them set way down. Frankly I'm not purist in that area, more so in the authentic functionality of the systems - although I admit - sound could be considered part of that. More annoying to me is sitting in a flight deck with the window open, watching a heavy get airborne - and not hearing the thunder of the engines at take-of thrust!

Hi Michael and Paul,

Hey Rick; Yeah, we're still around.. laugh.gif there's just not much happening. I expect that commotions only occur after an update/patch, or a new version release.

I would also reckon that their new sales aren't as high as they could be, either, as there's always so much negative publicity over the "FS9 port-over", the "blocky VC" and the "poor frame rate" garbage that keeps floating around. grr.gif - Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups!!

Anyway - I haven't anything new to add to the sound issue that Michael's having - sorry Michael! sad.gif

Hi Paul!

Don't worry 'bout that. In spite of these small issues she's still my favourite aircraft. I think up to today there's just no other FS9 product which is as real as the Maddog by Leonardo SH.

(Hi Rick! Nice to meet you!)
