Hello, I absolutely love flying the MD80. I do have a problem on the ground when attempting to taxi though. It takes a lot of thrust to get going and about 60-70% to maintain about a 15 knot taxi. I did read that it will taxi at idle thrust, but this is not the case with me. If I go to idle, or even 30-40%, it will slow down and eventually stop. I am using CH rudder pedals and the brakes are not active when trying to taxi. Thanks, hopefully someone can help me out.

Is anyone else able to help me with this? It seems from everything I've read I should not have to maintain that much thrust while taxiing.

Hi UAL1009,

I'm a long time Maddog pilot (by far the best addon up to now-believe me). I've never experienced a problem like this. The taxi behaviour is extreemly realistic. At light weights, at IDLE PWR I have to brake occasionaly to maintain proper taxi speed. Also, very small "breakaway" power is required to begin taxi. Like the real one! Try a fresh install or try to calibrate your controls whatever you use.

Cheers,

b

Also, when you are moving does the nose gear "bounce" and throw up dirt? If so, your AFCAD or Scenery is incorrect and FS thinks you are on Grass/Dirt!

Do you use any rudder pedals with "toe brakes" (Hardware rudders)? Some calibration issues may be putting brakes on even though you have pressed Period key (.) to disengage park brake and are not braking. I say that cos at 70%N1 I find I can move the aircraft even with brakes pushed down.

Also, double check you're looking at N1 and not N2. N2 tends to idle higher than N1.
