Is there any other setting or where would it say in the manual what option we have other then manual fuel mode in the FMS,
I'm always putting in 036.7/n or whatever my fuel is but always N Where is the option where I have to have the ART off or where in the manual does it explain it I've looked everywhere. The FMS PDF is pretty vague about this. Thanks -------------------- Jason Arsineau

What does A or N mean anyhow? The /N (Manual) letter that normally is used, means Normal or Standard and is relative to the emptying system currently in use on the Alitalia MD80 fleet. The /A letter means, instead, AUTO or Alternate and is relative to emptying system of the tanks that the Douglas proposes in order to reduce the ice formation on the wings but that it is not installed on Alitalia MD80 aircraft. The FMS has also the possibility to read automatically the present fuel in the tanks through a Fuel Quantity System Interface, in this case the present amount in the tanks would automatically appear on the MCDU with /A (Calc). -------------------- "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero"

Ok thanks fellas , what about controlling the thrust during T/O now I normally will increase to 80% and then hit the autothrottle to let it get to EPR T/O but isn't there a way for a reduced thrust takeoff? Or a Max thrust takeoff? Thanks

Jason,
Looks like you would benefit from a read of Maddog Operations Manual Vol. 1, chapter 17 Powerplant... It explains TO FLX, MCT and ART and all other A/T modes. Where did you get the 80% from - I think we're supposed to use 1.4 EPR -------------------- Cheers,

Hi,
I'm sure I read somewhere (tutorial??) that you wind the power up to 80% (N1?) and check the EPRs match, then select the AT and it will set EPR TO or EPR FLX. Best regards, Vulcan. -------------------- ![]() |

ENG Tutorial page 34:
"Set the brakes, advance the throttle to EPR 1.4 or 80% of N2 and check that all engine parameters are normal. Switch on autothrottle (A/T) and release brake; the aircraft will start to accelerate. Check that the left display of the FMA shows EPR TO and start the watch." |

QUOTE Set the brakes, advance the throttle to EPR 1.4 or 80% of N2 ...whichever is sooner/higher??? On a hot day, EPR will be lower than on a cold day. Best regards, Vulcan. This post has been edited by VulcanB2: 25/07/2007, 18:21 -------------------- ![]() |
