Hello,
There are a couple of sound issues with my MD2008. When I am in the FSX menu, choosing the MD, I already hear stall warnings and autopilot sounds while the plane is just on display. When the flight has started through a cold&dark option, I can hear the outside (spot view)- running engine sounds in the cockpit! Quite a blaring noise for a C&D cockpit...Has anyone else these issues?
Thanks

Yup.. seems it's a bug. Lots of posts about it. I get the stall warnings/autopilot warnings as the aircraft and scenery, texture, etc is loading, but not in the display part. I get the spot view sounds, in the cockpit or outside the aircraft, too - even C&D at the end of a flight with the airport deserted. I
want to hear the instruments winding down and
nothing else.

Hello,
Perhaps anyone from the development team could help us out? I tried reinstalls but to no avail....No idea what to do next.
Thank you

I'm not part of the development team, but anyway:
On my FSX SP2 system I get the engine sound in cold & dark, but only if I load the Maddog through the FSX free flight screens. When I load from the Manager & Setup application (selecting a panel state and situation file before FSX is launched) it doesn't happen - in a deserted airport it's completely quiet. Have you tried loading this way?

Does the engine sound also stops when you turn off your engines after a flight???

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions! Actually I always start the Maddog from the Manager Setup, but I tried both ways (via the Manager Setup and Free Flight) several times and it makes no difference, the engine sounds remained in the cold&dark VC. Indeed, after stopping the engines again, the engine sound still persisted.
In the meantime I have done two reinstalls to see what happens. Nothing changed; still the same problems as above.
It seems like the sound files are somehow corrupted, but it is worrying that even several reinstalls do not fix the problem. Perhaps it is a Vista 64-bit problem? On other payware planes ("famous" 767 and the 757) sounds still keep working correctly.
Hope anyone still has an idea,
thank you & best wishes for 2009

.........And it seems like I found a solution. When I load the flight via the Manager Setup, I get all the weird sounds. However, when I am finally at the airport in the VC (with engine sounds), I restart the Manager Setup and reload the aircraft c&d once more. It is double work, but at least then the engine sounds are gone and cockpit is really cold and dark!!

....Which proves also wrong. On a second flight today, same problems, engines keep sounding.....Whatever I do with reloading the flight, both free flight and via the Manager Setup, the engine sounds persist.....

Hi,
There seems to be a solution for me, after quite many hours of trying: if I load the Maddog via the Manager Setup, I do not get rid of the annoying engine sounds. Once the Maddog has loaded (Manager Setup or Free Flight makes no difference), I have to reload a default Cessna, turn off the alternator/master switches and manually turn off the engine, and any other equipment; reloading the Maddog then gives a real C&D cockpit.
Do not really understand why the Manager Setup does not work correctly, it seems not to be able to overwrite some persisting "engine running" file completely - at least not the sound part. But at least this work-around kind of works.

Lennard after you get into the Maddog now cold and dark via your workaround with the Cessna save the panel state via the menu bar. close FS and restart via the manager and select "user saved" panel state. Is everything still cold and dark (no sounds)?
Another idea springs to mind is to after getting your Cessna cold and dark is to save the flight and make this your default fs start.
Please let us know how you get on with this

Dear Hodge,
Thank you for your suggestions. I have tried both and in fact they both work, which is great - to an extent. The engines shut off, and it keeps silent; but it is not completely silent as I keep hearing also the sounds from the outside spot view. So when cold&dark, I hear cars and trucks etc. at the airport coming by really loudly. When I start the engines, I hear the engine start loudly as from spot view. So I am glad that engine sounds are not there continuously, but still there is some kind of strange sound issue esp. with the Maddog.....

Hi Hodge,
I just decided to do the worst thing and that is doing a complete reinstall of my FSX plus addons, since I keep having lots of trouble with other addons as well. I thought it might have to do with the fact that FSX is installed in the default X86/Program Files/Microsoft Games folder, which is not advised (C:\FSX instead). At the end of today I hope to be done with it and I am curious whether it has any effect on the Maddog sounds. It should....
Keep you informed

Hello Hodge,
Well, I am just finished reinstalling my complete FSX, including defragmentating and restarting my computer after each installment. The result: everything works fine, UNTIL I have loaded the Maddog. As soon as I did that, the sound problem came back, and worse: it has changed all my sound files, including LevelD etc. I always hear noise in every VC since I loaded the Maddog, some kind of airconditioning sound, during c&d in any plane. As this is serious now I will start a new topic especially to ask Davide, I hope it gets his attention....
Thanks

Does the engine sound also stops when you turn off your engines after a flight???
Yes, it does. However, if I switch to spot view (F11) and back to the 2D cockpit (I don't use the VC) I get the incorrect engine sounds.
This is on 32-bit XP, though. The OP is running 64-bit Vista.

Hello everyone,
I've purchased the Maddog in the last couple of weeks and am having the 'sound' issues as stated above.
1) Assorted warnings and sounds in FSX preview screen
2) Constant spot view sounds play in cockpit continuously, even when paused.
I've searched all over the forums, but have not really seen a fix.
I'm concluding that nothing can be done with these issues?
Thanks much,
Chris
try edit fsx.cfg, add :
[Bufferpools]
poolsize=490000000
Most find 200000000 works very well
You shoud read this great tweek for FSX

Okay, I'm not sure I understand. My issue is with incorrect sounds playing, and the reply and link you sent were pertaining to converting textures.
Thanks,
Chris
Yap..
But, When I add bufferpool...sounds is ok.
Sorry I forgot :

Hi,
AFAIK it is an FSX bug and not a bug with the aircraft.
