Hello everyone.

When flying the maddog from the 2D cockpit, I cant see the runway until very late in the final approach.

1) I prefer not to use the virtual cockpit since I do not load it due to performance reasons.

2) I am aware of clickspot in the middle of the widescreen, but it does not solve the problem. What I want is to change, downward, where I am looking to; but not change where I am looking from, which is not solving the issue.

3) I think my numbers are correct regarding Vth(=~130) and pitch (5º), and balance within limits (18.2 CG), unless i am doing something wrong regarding the maddog loader which messes the airplane cfg.

Any suggestion? could anyone tell me an exagerated balance to help with this issue?

Thanks!

Hello,

I had a similar problem (since fs98). I always assign a button on my stick (a HOTAS Cougar) to the "Raise Seat" / "Lower Seat" functions provided by FS9 (maybe FSX too - I use FS9 though).

The default keystrokes for them is SHIFT + ENTER and SHIFT+BACKSPACE i think - you can look it up in Assignments menu.

Also, the first thing I do upon loading FS is zooming out to 75% (press "-" once). I believe it gives a better perspective.

Hi,

I find 75% zoom to be about the best for the MD-82.

EDIT: I see.

I don't understand? From what I've seen of the widepanel view, the runway is behind the pillar when aligned with it? Moving the view so you're looking down more won;t solve this?

Best regards,
Robin.

LOL, this is difficult to explain. In my case the runway is not behing the pillar, it is somewhere behind the panel.

Imagine you are looking through a prismatic focusing on something in front of you. But then you want to look to something that is nearer out of the field of view you have currently with the prismatic. You could do it two ways, look a little bit more down by flexing the neck or by flexing the knees. Changing the viewpoint with the click spot in the glare shield does the latter which is infective as you would imagine. I want to change where I am looking, not where I am looking from. If a change where I am looking from until I see the runway, it would be unrealistic as my viewpoint would be virtually outside the aircraft.

Hmm. A screenshot would help.

Will do.

I just found out, the convinient way to change the view is using Shift-Q. The glareshiled clickspot does the same as Shift-Backspace. Next approach I will triy this combined with the zoom suggestion, which by the way, on my config changes in 10% increments, so its either 70% or 80%.

Are you using FSX?

Best regards,
Robin.

Yes, FSX.
