I've had the issue with the engines sounding in the cold & dark cockpit. Followed the advice on the forum and managed to get the MD80 started in cold and dark mode without the engines sounding.
But when I completed a circuit, landed and shut the engines down, the engine sound was still playing.
Is there any way to stop the egnine sounds from playing when the engines have been shut down?

Hi,
Not sure. Is this in FSX? AFAIK it is a glitch in FSX. It is buggy as ######.
Cycle "Q" (sound on/off) to see if that clears it?
Best regards,
Robin.
Pressing Q does not cure it.
Yes it is FSX.
No it doesn't occur in any other plane (default or PMDG/Level D)

I have the same problem, please can someone make a once-and-for-all fix for this?
Do yourself a favor and buy Turbine Sound Studio's JT8D's soundpack.
It's worth every penny!

Does it resolve the problem? In that case, something's wrong with the original sound package, which would mean that it's fixable.

I have tried various soundpacks and suggested methods. (default flight etc..) However, once I shut down the engines, the idle_fan.wav sound keeps playing.
Why haven't the developers fixed this by now?

IMHO the sound you hear could be the sound of electric fans if battery switch is on (When you press Q keystroke all engines sound should be silent; if you hear something, some other sound is still on; loading engines soundspack does not change anything because the problem is not related to engines ). In C&D, loading Cessna C&D you'll get no-sound situation. When I shut down the engines in a minute all sounds stop. Therefore there is nothing to fix except your settings and skill on Maddog use.

I know the difference between the cabin fans and the engines, and it is the engines. Besides, the cabin fans can't make any sounds when the power's switched off.

This IS a problem that's probably related to the coding of the plane.
And since others have encountered this problem, it HAS to be a real bug.

I don't agree: if only one Maddog in the world has not such problem it is not a matter uf bug but some interaction with some other add-on or computer config. A bug is a problem common to ALL.

Okay, so when I followed the steps on how to use it, it would work? Because it didn't. I didn't start this thread btw, which means that there are others...
Why can't we get a word from the developer who knows what the code does during engine start?
I have a strange sound issue with Maddog. When choosing md82 in "free flight" in FSX the aircraft loads and when the picture of the aircraft shows it also come with a lot of sound and audible warnings. Also when i use instant replay the sound that plays include warnings like "windshear", i.e warnings that have no reference to the part of flight that is replayed. Very strange and annoying. Now I always use an other aircraft in "free flight" and change when starting the flight at the airport. But there are something wrong here.
That's normal. The MD80 is loading from what ever you have set it to, via loadmanager or previous flight som where you stoped.
Maddog's MD is a great plane for simulator with very details but unfortunately the sound is the worst!

All of us have the same problem and we need a fix for that. Why the technical team of this company don't reaction on that?!
The cabin sound must be fixed. All of the thing is that to turn the maddox to the best! common, we are waiting for that!

Hi,
Check your system configs. As was written above, if there was a coding issue with the audio we would all experience it. As it isn't, then it is configuration based.
FSX or FS2004?
Try and disable as many add-ons as you can when testing the MD. I run FS2004 and have no issues with the audio. FSX has a known sound glitch that means the engine sounds are still audible even when they should not be. This is not the aircraft but FSX glitching.
Best regards,
Robin.
To prevent oddball sounds the sim needs to be setup with a proper "Cold 'n' Dark" scenario using the default Cessna 172 and at the airport/gate you prefer. Turn everything off and save the flight - maybe name it Cessna 172 Default Flight or something memorable. Then restart the sim using that flight. Open the 'Aircraft' menu, and load the Maddog in it's place. There should be no sound. Save this flight as "Maddog at KSEA Gate D6" (or whatever). Quit, and then open the LM, adding this flight to the 'Setup' - 'General' - 'Default Situation'. When you next launch the Maddog via the LM (no other way) - you should not get any sounds until you fire it up, and you should not get any extra sounds after shutting down.

Hi!
I have the same problem with Maddog.
When I start the flight and engines are powered off there is a good silent. When I try to turn on the engines then another load noise start and when I press q to mute the aircraft sound then I can still hear that noise sound.
I checked and see this noise not belong to engine sounds. With different engine sound pack this noise still exist. How could I mute this sound?
Then could you please explain how to solve this problem?
Maddog 2010 pro + FSX
You're probably hearing the 'airco' sound, Vahid. Go into the LM, (Setup->Sounds) find the sound setup page and turn all the sounds off. Some of these sounds are named such that they are easily identifiable - like 'bell', or 'wind', but some are a little bit ambiguous - like 'landing gear' and 'gear' (yes - both are there). Turn off those which you don't know, start the aircraft and you'll hear (or not hear) the sound that's too loud. As I said - I think this is the airco sound, and it's very loud for some reason. From what the r/w pilots here say - one cannot hear the engines from the flight deck - so mine are mostly all the way down: same with the APU.
Hope this helps.

I would add, Paul, "at_moving" very annoying sound to be canceled at all. Vahid, all Maddog specific sounds are separated from FS sounds, therefore you hear them in spite of "Q" activated.

Attached are sound settings that I hope you will find useful. They've been tested on over 20 different systems.
