Can someone pls describe how we perform an " abort take-off " ?
BenBaron
Hi,

during takeoff run, before reaching V1 (speed, until the takeoff run can be safely aborted without overrunning the runway end) and in the event of an emergency you perform a "rejected takeoff".

In general you'd pull the throttles back into max reverse, deploy the spoilers, apply wheel braking and maintain directional control to come to a full stop before the end of the runway.

Thank u Benny,
Does the aircraft have some automatic systems to help the pilot with the spoilers and the brakes ? How to engage or arm ?
BenBaron
Hi,

in case you're using autobrakes you would set them to RTO, so they apply max brake pressure once you retard the throttles to idle during takeoff run. As for e.g. Airbus, spoilers automatically deploy during a rejected takeoff. Don't think so for the Maddog...just pull the spoiler handle fully aft to ensure they are out wink.gif .

Hi and thanks,
When setting autobrakes to RTO ,does the pilot have to apply pressure on the brakes ? or does he leave the braking to the system ?
BenBaron
Using the autobrake, the sytem brakes automatically (using the RTO setting with the maximum available pressure). If the toe brakes are applied by one of the pilots the autobrakes are disconnected!
