Full Version: CTD in FSX

I have done a clean installation of the Maddog 2008. I then applied SP1, and installed the liveries. When I selected the aircraft, however, FSX just stopped responding, and I got a BSoD almost immediately after shutting down FSX (It's the "Fatal Error Occured" problem about which people have posted on this forum). So, whenever I slect the Maddog, or when I try to load the plane from the manager, or when I change my aircraft to the Maddog, FSX just quits - a CTD. So I decided to reinstall, but I get the same: instant CTD. It'd be a pity if the Maddog won't work in my FSX since it's a great plane to fly. In FS9 it works well, but I'm trying to get into FSX now and I don't really fancy being held back by this aircraft... Anybody got any idea what to do?

And no, I'd rather not do a complete reinstall.

System specs:
Windows 7 64bit
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB Hard Disk
Intel i5 Quad Core @ 2,79gHz
ATI HD5750

I also used FSX SP2. All works great, no crash.
You didnt say do you have clean FSX installation?
Check install proper FSUIPC (reg or unreg).
Did you save profile in Manager & Setup?
Did you proper enable maddog gauges when FSX started?
Quad CPU made crash FSX (UIAutomationCore.dll), download UIAutomationCore.dll and copy it in FSX dir.
Also good tweak site, check it h_tp://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

So..that is first step

- I do not have a clean installation and I pretty much refuse to make one just for the Maddog, since it seems I'm finally getting everything to run proparly.
- I have a registered FSUIPC and it is updated to the newest version.
- What exactly do you mean by "saving a profile"? if you mean that I did preflight and selected a startup situation and panel state to load, then the answer is yes.
- Yes.
- I'll try UIAutomationCore.dll, but where can I get it, and what does it do? I should say that the Maddog is the only plane that makes my FSX crash, so I'm not sure how tweaking FSX good remedy the situation.

I have three computer with licenses of Maddog and Feelthere Wilco (the pay I experienced CTD with): each computer has different Operative Systems and my CTD experience is the following
1. With Windows XP no CTD at all
2. With Vista 32, CTD with both FS9 and FSX
3 With Win7, CTD with FS9 and no with FSX

Therefore the situation is much more complicated depending also from OS. sad.gif sad.gif

That's just sad, then. An aircraft should work on all OS's, in both FS9 and FSX. This was an expensive aircraft and it's sad that I can only fly it in FS9. I might have to consider geting the Flight1 MD-80, then. I don't really want to have a sim without a MD-80...

I experience even worst CTD with Feelthere Wilco Airbus. With Win7 situation of CTD with Maddog is sharply improving.

Well, it seems my FSX is probably completely broken. I have absolutely no idea how it happened, but now even the Qualitywings 757 and PMDG 747 are causing trouble... Seems a FSX reinstall is inevitable. And back I go towards hating FSX dry.gif

I also have fs9 and maddog 2010 pro, no CTD. All works fine. Only blurring texture in fs9, but I fixed it.
Maybe, you should check config files fsx.cfg, DLL.XML

Google 'UIAutomationCore.dll FSX', h_tp://forum.avsim.net/tutorials/article/38-fsx-win7-crash-from-function-select/
I used win7 x64, dll version is UIAutomationCore.dll 6.0.6001.18000
I recommand tweaking FSX for better FSX stability and optimize. Just go the site, choose your hardware information, click browse to find your FSX.CFG file, that is it. replace new created FSX.CFG with newone, make backup.

I'm already reinstalling FSX. Tomorrow I'll see if the Maddog still crashes on a clean FSX install.

I reinstalled FSX - again I got the CTD. It made me go absolutely crazy. So, I looked around these forums again, and found this thread:

http://www.flythemaddog.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8908

I'm now running FSX as admin, and the problem went away... BUT, there is a new problem now. The FPS Limiter I'm using can't run now that FSX runs in admin mode. It can't start it up... I hope something can be done about that.

You could turn off UAC
Thralni
Never mind this thread, problem was solved already about a week ago. I simply had to give admin rights to FPS Limiter to, and then it worked. Ever since, my Maddog is working just fine. Flying around NYC is a very nice experience! For some reason, FSX gives me better FPS than FS2004 in this area...
