I mean to offend no one, but MADDOG2008 2010 is just too buggy for me. It's been one issue after another since installation. I've no problem with the sim's checklists nor complexity as I've flown jets for years. Actually, it's pretty simple. It's the irritating crap that's driving me nuts. I bought the MADDOG to have a f-u-n aircraft, not to fight on a nightly basis.

Problems I've run into:
1. NaviGraph updates are just ridiculous. I never did get it right, but finally, after spending several hours, uninstalled MADDOG and just reloaded the sim afresh and ran with the original set. At least it worked.
2. Virtual cockpit - I don't care for the 2D wide cockpit. I want the VC. When I realized it was in one model only, I was disappointed, but what the ######. So I ran the EFIS/FMS VC cockpit only to discover that once I went over to the 2D cockpit, the VC cockpit disappeared forever. The full scan VC was outdoors with no panel. OK, reboot, reload FSX, reload the flight and discover the VC has gone dark. I can turn up the horizon / HSI with the available knobs, but the rest of the VC cockpit, glareshield down is dark and unusable. thumbdown.gif
3. Cockpit jet noise. Loud screeching noise in the cockpit. It drowns out the radio, stew brief, etc. It also gives me a headache and so loud as to disturb my family. thumbdown.gif

All these issues are throughout the forum, but no action re an update to address them.

I'll check back occasionally for an update to MADDOG2010, but for now, I'm going to admit defeat and go to the PMDG 737

Best to all and thanks to those who've helped

Maddog is not so buggy it is simply too complex for those that don't want read the manual: all inconvenient described by you are the result of poor knowledge of the sim: PLS FLY THE CESSNA172!

The Maddog is not "buggy" - it is designed to emulate a full-sized McDonnell-Douglas MD-80, and it does just that - and exceedingly well.
There are also a good number of r/w commercial MD-80 drivers on this site that will vouch for that, too.

Flight Deck management requires many skills, among them - literary comprehension - i.e. R-T-fine-Manual - plus teamwork, communication and leadership - all play a part in how one approaches a new aircraft. This is not a 'toy': if you want to merely experience the pleasures of "Ctrl-E and full throttle" - go to Flight1 - they will gladly take your money for a "Super80".

The answer to every complaint that you have is contained in these forums. As Mauro says "the result of poor knowledge of the sim:" and zero patience.

Yeah, I have to agree with everyone. The Maddog is a complex, pilot driven aircraft (rather than having the computer doing everything). Everyone who's started with this aircraft has experienced frustration for that every reason, and in 96% of the problems have been pilot error.

The MD-80 2010 Professional is a terrific piece of work that was developed over many years, and our group continues to fly her very often, in Multi-Crew on VATSIM.

It's worth sticking with, once you get the hang of things, you'll fall in love with her.

It's worth noting that our group flies the Level-D, PMDG NGX, and all other types of higher end addon aircraft, and we still come back to the Maddog.

Be well
